IB Cap Ceremony 2024

The IB graduate students’ next of kin came from many parts of the world to celebrate

IB Cap Ceremony 2024 at Grenaa Gymnasium IB World School

The school’s international IB students had their graduation ceremony at the end of May following the IB programme’s global exam schedule.

This year there were 74 IB students who celebrated the end of their exams together with their relatives and their teachers. They will not receive their exam results until the beginning of July.

Approximately half of the school’s students are IB students. They come from all over the world, but there are especially many from Southern and Central European countries as well as the Baltic countries.

“On the one hand, they provide new input for the many student activities at the school, which they are involved in,” says Eike Boysen, IB coordinator at Grenaa Gymnasium.

“On the other hand, they are also increasingly adopting Danish student traditions. They love the caps and the dance around the statue of the local 19th century hero Søren Kanne at the town square, among other things.”

Some of our IB students are so happy in Denmark that they choose to stay and pursue further education. They mainly apply to Aarhus and Aalborg. Therefore, there are also more of them who have put their efforts into learning to speak Danish. In the IB programme, you have to choose at least one foreign language, and at Grenaa Gymnasium we offer Danish at beginner level, among other things,” concludes Eike Boysen.

If you want to experience students from all three programmes performing together, the annual Culture Night in Grenaa always provides an opportunity for this, as the school’s choir, which consists of students from both STX, HF and IB, performs here
