STX Lanugages expand your horizons.
You obtain knowledge of several world cultures because you have at least two higher level languages
You become proficient in speaking English and German, French, or Spanish.
You also learn about what it’s like to live in the countries where these languages are spoken.
Languages and cultures in theory and practice
“Why do Spanish youth not move out from their parents’ homes until they are at the age of 30? Why did so many Americans vote for Donald Trump? Why are there so many Arabic words in French slang? Why are East Germans skeptical about vaccines?”
You become aware that you encounter other cultures in your everyday life through things like food, fashion, art, movies, series, and social media.
You also learn about the languages – have a go at speaking English like an Irish or an Indian! Or try speaking French like a Canadian, German like a Swiss, or Spanish like a Mexican.
On the study and language trips, you discover that you can ask for directions in German, get the price of half a kilo of strawberries in French, or local oranges in Spanish.
