Everything is close by when you live at Grenaa Gymnasium’s boarding school.

In fact, in your everyday life, you have no commuting time at all – you have school, friends, extracurricular activities, homework assistance, and meals right where you are.

Walking distances from the Boarding School:

Grenaa Gymnasium: 2 minutes

Grenaa Sports Center: 5 minutes

Grenaa Traffic Terminal: 10 minutes

Grenaa City Center: 12 minutes

Grenaa Beach: 20 minutes

The everyday life at the Boarding School is something  inbetween living at home and having moved away from home.

  • You can get a wake-up call in the morning.
  • There are meals 5 times a day…at least.
  • We help you with your schoolwork.
  • You have responsibilities! For example, cleaning up common areas.
  • You must respect quiet reading time from 8 pm to 11 pm and complete silence at 10 pm on weekdays, and 11 pm on weekends.

There is homework café twice a week with teachers from Grenaa Gymnasium.

There is study silence from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. every weekday.

There are study group rooms with a whiteboard.

Throughout the year, there are many fun and cozy traditions and activities, such as:

  • Themed evenings (food and fun)
  • Halloween festivities
  • Thanksgiving
  • Danish Christmas dinner
  • Trip to Aarhus
  • Ice-skating
  • Trip to Djurs Sommerland (amusement park)
  • Flea market


Many activities are organized by the students themselves. It can be anything from dance lessons to knitting, jogging, and movie nights.

 At the boarding school you have the freedom to do what you want as long as you abide by the common rules.

The rules are in place to ensure that we all have a good experience at the boarding school.

As long as we can see that you are doing well, there are no fixed bedtimes, and no one will demand an explanation for where you have been and why.

But we won’t leave you alone if you encounter problems.

This applies whether they are big or small problems at school, with relationships, in nightlife, or whatever may arise.

We care about your well-being.

The boarding school staff will assist you in managing your schoolwork.

Overall, it’s very much the same as what your own family would do. We are always ready to help if problems arise or if there is anything troubling you.

There is staff at the boarding school around the clock.

You can live at the Boarding School if you are a student at Grenaa Gymnasium.
