House Rules

The rules are there so that everyone can have a good everyday life.

House rules and regulations

Welcome to the community of the Boarding School.

It is surprisingly easy to have over 200 people living under the same roof when everyone knows, understands, and follows the same set of rules.

You have chosen the boarding school as your home for the next period of your youth. It will definitely be an exciting time where you will be in charge of a large part of your daily life.

Therefore, it is important that you read the rules. Please find them in a short version further below on this page.

When you fill out and sign your application to the Boarding School, you are also signing that you will comply with the House Rules.

New students at the boarding school will always receive a presentation of the House Rules as the first thing.

If there is anything you are unsure about, simply ask the boarding school staff.

House Rules of the Boarding School

The short version

Grenaa Gymnasium’s Boarding School will be your home and family for the next few years. In a home, everyone actively contributes to creating a positive environment with respect for one another, and with cozy and tidy surroundings.

To build a home where everyone feels comfortable, we need you to contribute by respecting the house rules.

The more you engage in the daily life and activities of the Boarding School, the better your stay will be.

The boarding school is like one big family. You must behave accordingly:

  • Speak politely and be considerate of each other
  • Bullying in the real as well as the virtual world is completely unacceptable.
  • Theft leads to sanctions, including possible expulsion and police report.
  • Taking each other’s belongings from refrigerators, kitchens, laundry rooms, etc., is also considered theft
  • Always adhere to study and bedtime so your peers can have peace to study and rest.

Alcohol consumption is only allowed on Fridays and Saturdays between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM

  • It is not allowed to drink alcohol over 16.4%
  • You must always be able to take care of yourself and your peers, and adhere to the house rules regarding bedtime, etc.
  • It is not allowed to drink or store alcohol in common areas at the boarding school
  • Violation of the rules may result in warnings and/or alcohol bans.

There is zero tolerance for narcotics

  • You may not take drugs while at the boarding school or return to the boarding school in an intoxicated state
  • Boarding school staff can, with justified suspicion that you have taken drugs, ask you to provide a urine sample
  • If you are under 18, we will contact your parents if the test is positive
  • A positive test will generally result in expulsion from the boarding school.

You must actively participate in keeping the house tidy and clean

  •  It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that the boarding school looks neat and orderly
  • Always clean up after yourself in the dining hall and other common areas
  • Clean up and tidy your room for the monthly room checks
  • Attend the duties assigned to you during the year

Stay informed about what is happening at the boarding school
