The annual glamour party at Grenaa Gymnasium
Every year on the last Friday in January, there is a gala, and a large part of the school is transformed into one big party area.
In the weeks leading up to the party, all the students have been practicing dancing Les Lanchiers, planning communal dining with their classmates, and not least finding their ultimate party clothes.
The programme of the party consists of communal dining in the classrooms together with a couple of each class’ teachers. The students themselves organize this part of the party, and as with any good party, it’s not just about the food, but there is also entertainment in the form of, for example, quizzes, award ceremonies or speeches.
After the communal dining in the classrooms, the Les Lanciers begin with the first year students first, and the graduating students last. Many parents of graduating students have come to see a glimpse of their son or daughter in one of the quadrilles.
After the Lanciers, the party continues with a couple of standard dances and then with a live band until midnight.
