On Monday, August 11th, Grenaa Gymnasium welcomed 166 new students in 1.STX, 1.HF, and Pre-IB. They are now truly beginning to settle in and get used to each other and everyday life at the school.
During the first month, they have participated in various activities designed to help them get to know one another and start forming friendships and class communities.
On the first day of school, there was a subject-themed orientation race around the school. This not only helped them learn their way around and meet some of their teachers, but also gently encouraged them to start interacting through tasks related to different subjects.
In the first couple of weeks, all classes also had a lesson in folk dancing. Here, most students are equally new to it, making mistakes together while having fun.
The same philosophy underpins the team-building exercises they compete in at Nature Center Karpenhøj, located in the scenic Mols area, which all classes visit on an overnight trip.
The final touch to all these community-building activities is a cozy board game afternoon on a Friday, which also features the first Friday Café of the year.
We hope that everyone has had a good start to the year and thus the best possible foundation for thriving both academically and socially at our school.”
