Covid-19 Antibody Tests at Grenaa Gymnasium

Students conducted tests on themselves

The biology teachers at Grenaa Gymnasium did not hesitate when the opportunity to order a large number of antibody test kits arose a few weeks ago. Within a couple of days around 400 of the school’s students conducted the test on themselves as part of a nation wide campaign.

“It turned out that none of the 400 students and teachers had Covid-19 antibodies in their blood,” biology teacher Mette Lillelund explains. “This makes it very likely that they have not been carrying Corona virus. It can of course not tell whether they carry it now,” Mette Lillelund says.

Mette Lillelund further explains that antibody tests are used for a variety of purposes from pregnancy tests to HIV tests. “So these tests will form part of the immunology unit in the biology classes,” she says.

All the students and teachers who participated are encouraged to fill in the campaign questionnaire here.
