Extended Essay at Grenaa Gymnasium

The Extended Essay allows you to do in-depth study of a topic that interests you at a level approximating university standard.

It requires that you do research for and write a 4,000 word essay. You choose the topic and focus of the investigation.
This gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to:
• Undertake original research
• Meet a challenge with discipline and dedication
• Clarify a problem in a logic, lucid and thorough way
• Keep an essay within a word limit and observe academic standards of referencing

Guidance

You will be thoroughly introduced to the project and you will receive guidance in all phases.
The teacher guiding you will be one teaching a subject relevant to your topic.
The Extended Essay project begins towards the end of IB1 and ends in the first half of IB2.
