Climate Change: What can you do?
Grenaa Gymnasium’s Environmental Council dedicated a week in November to highlighting the individual actions we can take to reduce our personal carbon footprint. They organized specific, eco-friendly events for each day of the week: food, clothing, electricity consumption, and transportation from Monday to Thursday. Friday featured a cake and information booth at the Friday café.
Monday offered delicious and climate-friendly food samples during break time, and the canteen served exclusively vegetarian meals. For this occasion, they teamed up with the Boarding Achool’s kitchen, which prepared the delicacies.
Tuesday was clothing day, and there was an opportunity to revamp, for example, an old shirt with creative and visible stitches, thereby extending its lifespan. On Wednesday, the lights were dimmed throughout the school, and students were encouraged to slow down and incorporate a short meditation into their day. On Thursday, everyone was encouraged to make their daily transportation as climate-friendly as possible.
These five awesome days were invented by the youth department of the organization Vedvarende Energi, UngEnergi, and Grenaa Gymnasium’s Environmental Council is a member of their climate action community.
