For those who have the desire and will to cultivate professional interests even more.
A strong tradition has developed at Grenaa Gymnasium for raising money for the annual national charity event Danmarks Indsamling. This year the students raised Dkr. 28034,- which is no less than DKr. 8000,- more than last year.
However, other schools also made an effort and chances of winning the draw to have a stand-up comedian show at the school were only 6,4%. But luck was with our students and not undeservedly as the amount they raised was the fourth largest among the participating schools.
The ideas for fundraising activities come from the Global Group and they also organize them. The activities begin in the fall and culminates the Friday before the show on national TV. This time the first activity was Pre-IB and IB students’ International Day where they sell tastes from their home countries. December saw heart-shaped gingerbreads for sale with the support from a local bakery and the idea that class mates and colleagues could surprise each other.
The activity that raised the largest amount this year was a sponsor run. This was thanks to a generous local enterprise that sponsored one of the most enduring students. The most enduring student ran no less than 43 rounds on the 0,6 km long circular route around the school. He was closely followed by number two and three who ran 40 and 37 rounds respectively.
Most of the funds were raised through many small contributions by students and staff. For example at the tombola with prizes donated by no less than 25 local shops and firms.
Nationwide 21 upper-secondary schools participated in the competition.
